With over 35 years of field experience we have a reputation for completing projects on time, under budget, and exceeding planned outcomes. Here a few examples.
Ashram Rare Earth Elements, Nunavik, Canada
Overview: Commerce Resources requested assistance with a pre-feasibility mining study. We assisted Dahrouge Geological to install groundwater monitoring wells and instruments for a pumping test. Challenges: remote site, difficult logistics, limited budget. Services: Field plan review, procedure development, instrument installation, and data management Results: Our innovative approach reduced grouting costs, eliminated days of heli/rig time, and allowed additional exploration holes to be drilled within the original budget.
Isua Iron Ore, Greenland
Overview: London Mining requested a mining feasibility study. We assisted SNC Lavalin to manage geotechnical activities & instrument installations. Challenges: Remote location, difficult logistics, heli access, and working on a glacier. Services: project management, logging, sampling, rock testing, and instrumentation. Results: We installed thermistors into bedrock through an active glacier. Data validated the proposed design.
Camino Rojo, Mexico
Overview: Goldcorp requested a pre-feasibility mining study. We assisted PIteau Associates to manage and execute a hydrotechnical testing and instrument installation program. Challenges: Deep testing and instrument installations (to 975m), multiple concurrent drill rigs, climate, communication. Services: Planning, procedure development, training, testing, in-field management, data management, and reporting. Results: 160 successful packer tests, data quality described by the client as the "best we've ever seen", and a shorter field program achieved through in-field optimization.
Ok Tedi, Papua New Guinea
Overview: Ok Tedi Mining sought to extend their mine life. We assisted SRK Consulting to manage an intensive hydro/geotechnical field program. Challenges: remote site, Infrastructure and logistical constraints, extreme climate (9m rain/yr), unstable ground, and cultural factors (work ethic, tribalism, communication) Services: Program management, logging, testing, instrument installations, data management and QC, training, safety, reporting. Results: Enhanced the pit wall design and eliminated a proposed est. $45M dewatering tunnel.
